Dr. Neal Patterson began his ministry in 1964 after graduating from Word of Faith Bible College in Tauranga New Zealand. Being part of the early pioneering ministry of the Charismatic, Pentecostal movement in New Zealand he gained valuable experience planting churches in places such as the Chatham Islands, Hawke’s Bay, and the Auckland region.
In 1968, together with his wife Ruth and their three children he began his teaching ministry, establishing a short term Bible training center in Singapore. Responding to a call from a Bible School in East Java, Indonesia, he joined their faculty teaching for a period of two years. These years were followed by a call back to pioneering ministry in the East Kalimantan region of Indonesia, building a Bible School to train Dayak Tribesmen in Church Planting and Evangelism.
Early in 1974, as a result of a request to return to New Zealand to take over the Pastorate of their mother Church in Auckland, they returned to New Zealand. Two years later it was back to pioneering, this time establishing a Church in Napier City which occupied him in Pastoral ministry for almost a decade. During this time Dr. Patterson spent much time in study and research working his way through post graduate studies which earned him a Doctorate in Theology from Jubilee International Bible College in Brisbane, Australia.
The teaching ministry being foremost in his heart, Dr. Patterson together with Ruth returned to Asia in 1987 joining the faculty of Tung Ling Bible College in Singapore. For the last four years of the seven year period of ministry in this School, Dr. Patterson held the position as Principal.
